Sail without a boat in Menorca: what you can do today

You have your sailing licence, or you're getting it, and no boat. Chartering is pricey and buying one is a different conversation.

The Seafolk is a club of owners who swap boats for a few days. It isn't a charter and no money passes from one to the other. This page says plainly what you can do in it today if you don't have a boat.

What there is in Menorca

Menorca has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1993, and most of the reserve's area is sea [1]. Whoever sails there does so inside it.

What you can do today without a boat

Sign up and claim your founding place.
Invite an owner you know: your invitation link is in your dashboard. When they list their boat, one more boat joins the network.

What you can't do yet without a boat

Request a place aboard another member's boat. To request a swap you need your own boat listed, with availability dates: that is a condition of the club today, not a formality. With yours listed you will be able to request a place on someone else's: today, to stay aboard in port or to sail with a professional skipper.

How swaps work

Knots are the club's internal credits. They can't be bought or sold: you earn them by lending your boat and spend them sailing someone else's.
Open today: staying aboard in port, without sailing, or sailing with a professional skipper. Bareboat, sailing by yourself, is closed for now.

Where the club really stands

28 members and 3 boats. It's new: join now and you're among the first.
Founding place free until 31 Dec 2026: a card is registered and nothing is charged before then; from 1 Jan 2027, €90 a year for life. Founding places are capped at 1,000 boats.
Today the club is for people who already own a boat: with none listed you can't request swaps.

There are still few boats: it can't be promised that one will be free on your coast tomorrow. The more owners join early, the sooner there will be something to choose from.
